This book does not at all look imposing but presents itself in one of the most difficult formats and presentations to read in all of my theological studies. Berkhof makes certain assumptions of his readers such as extensive knowledge in the Latin language as he casually throws Latin terminology around so often that it consumes as much time to look things up as it takes to read the book.
Nevertheless Befkhof is a well-qualified scholar of the 20th century and provides here in this book an acute understanding and teaching of the basics to biblical interpretation.
Brilliant book. It makes the "giants" of modern science look like mice by presenting alternatives to their assumed truths by actual evidence and proven, demonstrated experimentation. Our contemporary scholars would do well to step down from their pharisaical thrones and take a page out of this book.
We don't know what we don't know until we read this book. As obvious as God is claimed to be by the average Christian, Tozer aptly demonstrates how little time we take to actually know God as opposed to His teachings, laws, doctrines, miracles, etc. This book was eye-openeing in a simplistic and convincing way.
This book was very interesting and the arguments absolutely compelling. Although I find myself on the other end of the spectrum of the doctrine of Hell, I must say that the Author makes such clever arguments based on Biblical citation that I find it difficult to refute but only equally as much as my own arguments on torment unto annihilation. Still the two doctrines cannot be reconciled and so one must be true and the other false. This book has presented me with my greatest challenge in determining which is which.
You'll notice that on all books discussing the geocentricity of Earth and the falsehood of heliocentricity that there are no descriptions of the book itself other than to say that it has been determined that this work is only valuable enough to be stored and reproduced for its historical and literary value.
This book is an excellent presentation of conclusive argument for defying the conventional understanding of our current scientific worldview. The facts and evidence presented cannot be refuted and disputation of the claims is always baselessly founded upon the false assumptions of flawed modern science.
A must-have for any Theologian's bookshelf. It is simply a series of pages containing a list of names and their very brief definitions. Most notable among the Author's redeeming qualities is the preface where he states in humility that there are many thoughts and opinions related to names in the Bible and that this work is his understanding, but that he could very well be mistaken and is sure that there are equally as compelling arguments out there that would appear to contradict what he proposes.
Bullinger is an obscure writer and Theologian but very creative and difficult to dispute. His reasoning is clever and his theology consistent. This book was enjoyable to read and, for those interested in Biblical Cosmology, it proves to advance the importance of Creation in establishing a sure foundation of faith.
This is a piggy-back of Henry Morris' other book on creation, "Scientific Creationism." While the other book attacks a false, scientific worldview, this book promotes a greater understanding of the truth presented in the Bible to support the reality and fact of Creation and the flood. Together both of these books do an excellent job of engaging in the apologetics of these topics, while separately they offer what might be a different flavor of discussion in their approach to understanding why the Bible is true and modern thinking is false.
This might be better titled, "A Summary of the highlights of Certain Documents of the Christian Church." While this book is well-packed with content, it does not nearly cover the entirety of documents produced by the Church in the last 2000 years, nor does it always display the whole documents shown but offers only highlights from them.
Very good explanations of how the Creation account of Scripture is consistent, authoritative, and sovereign from a scientific perspective. Modern science, being flawed and oftentimes baseless, the Reader is reminded of the plain, empirical truths before us that support biblical teaching.
